The Corbett project was driven by one primary challenge: working within a defined budget while still delivering maximum functionality and long-term value. To address this, our team at Kolbe Valley Homes explored three distinct design concepts, each evaluated from different architectural, structural, and cost perspectives.
Through close collaboration with the homeowner, we arrived at a solution that balanced ambition with efficiency. Rather than replacing the existing foundation, we retained and worked within it, allowing us to reallocate budget toward areas with the greatest impact. The final design extends the second floor to comfortably accommodate three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, along with a compact, dedicated office cubicle on the second level.
To further enhance livability, the main floor was raised, creating a nearly 10-foot basement ceiling height. This allowed for the development of a fully functional in-law suite with a separate entrance, adding flexibility and future value to the home. The project was completed with a detached double-car garage located in the backyard, preserving yard space while meeting parking needs.
The result is a thoughtfully planned home that demonstrates how strategic design decisions and cost-conscious engineering can deliver exceptional outcomes without compromise.
